A personal note...

Dear Reader,

I have written this site in order to help women learn how advances in gynecology will help them to take control of their lives.  Since introducing office laser surgery in 1982, I have had extensive experience in performing, researching, and teaching hysteroscopy, endometrial ablation and other advanced procedures.  But even more important than advanced technology is taking the time to listen to my patients.  By understanding my patients' symptoms, needs, and concerns, and by having advanced diagnostic and treatment methods right in the office, it is often possible to find the cause of and rapidly solve difficult gynecologic problems.

I am hoping that after reading this site you will have a better understanding of some of the recent advances in gynecology.  And of course, if you would like a personal consultation, I am always happy to see new patients.

Sincerely,

Urine Test During Menstrual Period

10th Aug 2019 Urine-Test

Urine tests are not usually taken during menstruation except in serious cases where the symptoms suggesting a problem with the urinary tract is severe. If you’re one who needs to get a urine test but is currently on menstruation, below are more info on Quick fix you need to know so that you become aware before the test begins:

Why Are Urine Tests Important?

Urine tests or urinalysis are part of regular general physical assessment tests. It is done when there is a need for a general fitness assessment or for symptoms examination.

In some cases, it is performed before beginning the treatment for kidney diseases, diabetes, high blood pressure, and liver diseases. Urine tests can detect urinary tract infection, kidney and bladder infections, and ureter abnormalities as well.

What Is Tested in Urine

Standard urine tests include information on: Color, Odor, Clarity, Specific gravity, pH, Protein, Glucose, Nitrates, Leukocyte esterase and Ketones. It has a microscopic analysis which may show: red or white blood cells, casts, crystals, bacteria, yeasts, parasites and squamous cells. Urine tests can be used to detect certain drugs and are the cheapest way to detect drug abuse.

If you’re having your menstrual period at the time of the test or you expect to have it soon or if you’ve eaten beets, rhubarb, or blackberries shortly before the test you must inform your doctor, if the doctor is not informed, it may be incorrectly interpreted that you have an abnormal result known as a “false positive” and that there is an injury to your bladder or kidney because your urine will be reddish.

Usually, when the urine test is needed only for a regular physical examination, your doctor will recommend waiting until after the menstruation has ended to perform the test. But if you’re experiencing serious symptoms discussed above, your doctor may perform the test as a matter of urgency.

How to Pass a Urine Test During Menstruation?

You could always use your actual urine by putting a tampon in your vagina, cleaning the surrounding areas, and covering the vagina with a cloth, then trying to urinate carefully into the container. This is not guaranteed to not compromise your test results though.

The easiest method used to pass a urine test while menstruating is by exchanging your urine sample with another who is not menstruating. This is not always feasible, and sometimes, it goes very wrong as your doctor may order more tests on you based on someone else’s urine sample.

A safe option guaranteed to pass the test is synthetic urine. Synthetic urine is a combination that looks very real and reacts just like real urine after it has been well mixed with water and set to room temperature. A well-reviewed synthetic urine product may last for up to 2 years in storage if it is not mixed with water (wait until you are ready to use it to mix it), protected from sunlight, and kept at room temperature.

Synthetic urine is very easily prepared. When it is time to sneak it in, it is best to hide it somewhere that is not easily visible and attached to your body preferably – a belt or a tape may be a good option for you.

Urine tests are important diagnostic tests that say a lot about how your body is functioning; therefore, it is recommended that the parameters of the test be followed to give your doctor an accurate result.

Cannabis for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: Does It Work?

20th July 2019 Cannabis-for-Polycystic

Cannabidiol contains anxiolytic that is a non-psychoactive property. This chemical has been proven to treat anxiety, pain, PMS, and sleeping issues. You can check here for more that it is now suspected to have a potential benefit to PCOS patients, especially on their sleeping quality and mental relaxation.

PCOS – Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Polycystic ovary syndrome is an abnormal hormonal condition of a woman in which the body produces an unusually high level of male hormones. This will result in excessive dandruff, weight gain, severe acne, hirsutism, and male-pattern baldness. Missed periods, abnormal heavy flow, multiple cysts, pelvic pain, and thickening of the uterus are the other internal symptoms.

PCOS greatly affects the female’s fertility. Since menstruation only occurs occasionally rather than regularly, it reduces the chance of pregnancy. The ovaries will excrete excessive fluids that hinder the ovaries to release normal eggs. In addition, PCOS prevents the body to have a normal regulation of hormones affecting other body parts that require hormonal enzymes.

Treatment Using CBD

PCOS causes sporadic discomfort to the patient, thus experiencing pain in some parts of the body. A treatment that has been discovered recently using cannabidiol (CBD) extracted from cannabis seeds revealed to ease the pain caused by PCOS. CBD has a non-psychoactive chemical that reduces the symptoms of PCOS, however, in consideration to the potency and dosage of the said chemical.

Dosage is an important factor in the treatment since the chemical taken has a great effect on the body. Only the specialist can handle the dosage concentration as it is highly dependent on the patient taking the medicine. For normal people, 25 milligrams of CBD is enough. However, for those who have stronger symptoms, they will need to take a higher dosage which will be prepared by the respected personnel.

Benefits of Using CBD in Treating PCOS

Hollinrake conducted a study in 2005 that reveals that women with PCOS tend to develop stress and depression. CBD can contain these symptoms by releasing the calming chemicals inside the body that soothes the patients from the pain. This can also improve their instability and prevent any disturbing symptoms, thus giving the patients more quality sleep that enhances mental health.

It also reduces the abnormalities on the hormones. The CBD restores the balance inside the body. It decreases menstrual irregularities, thus increasing the chance of giving birth, reverting insulin flow inside the body to normal, and getting rid of other symptoms caused by PCOS. It also has direct control of the aggregation of fats which can result in weight loss, which is a risk factor in developing PCOS.

CBD is now offered in different forms: oil, paste, tablets, vapes, etc. The most preferred option is in the form of CBD oil and paste, but this up to the preference of the patient.

However, despite using CBD in health treatments, it can still be considered as a harmful drug, so it is advisable to seek medical attention from a specialist. Consultation is also important, as the doctor can give the best advice on how to use CBD in treating PCOS.

Can Cannabis Help with Irregular Periods

01th July 2019 Cannabis-Help

Cannabis has long served as a traditional treatment for problems related to fertility. It is due to the abundant constituent of phytocannabinoids like the CBD and THC.  CBD oil can help alleviate irregular periods. Scientists have discovered that Cannabis directly affects how the endocannabinoid system works. An average period will take place after every 21-35 days. Usually, the periods connect to ovulation. It means during the menstruation period, ovulation has not started due to the high hormonal imbalance, also termed as oligomenorrhea. When you notice your periods haven’t taken place for more than 35 days, it could be a sign of an irregular menstrual cycle. Irregular periods can result from a change of diet, puberty, stress, menopause, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and childbirth.

How Cannabis Can Help Control Irregular Periods?

Boost Mineral and Vitamin Intake

If you continuously consume a poor diet, it may result in irregular menstruation. By adding Cannabis to your daily meal, it can boost your intake of minerals, vitamin, and fiber. CBD oil is an excellent source of vitamin D. Most women suffering from irregular periods have a deficiency of vitamin D. The good thing with cannabis oil is that it has a minimal amount of THC, so you don’t need to worry about getting high or having any side effects.

Alleviate Stress

Stress is a common cause of irregular menstruation. Cannabis can help fight stress by controlling the endocannabinoid system. Anxiety is the primary symptom of stress. Women suffering from this disorder can consume Cannabis, which, in turn, boost the endocannabinoids.

Regulate Irregular Menstruation and Lessen Chances of Getting Ovarian Cancer

Ovarian cancer is ranked fifth in the main types of cancer that cause death in women. The International Journal of Cancer report states that in every 15, 0000 women, 116 got diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The findings further said that women aged 26 who suffered from irregular periods were likely to get ovarian cancer by the time they reach 70 years. The possibility triples until they attain an age of 77. In an August 2015 report, the National Cancer Institute demonstrated in an experiment that Cannabis destroyed cancer cells.  Another report shows that two cannabinoids, the nabilone and dronabinol, can shrink the size of an ovarian tumor. The cannabinoids can also regulate indications such as mood swings, fatigue, weight loss, constipation, itchiness, inflammations, and nausea.

The National Health Institute also states that Cannabis, if used with chemo and radiation therapy, can help kill cancer cells. The good thing about this is that no healthy cells will be injured or killed. The suggested ingestion techniques for trading ovarian cancer are through edibles, tinctures, transdermal patches, vaporizers, and suppositories.

Conclusion

Considering the above factors, you will realize Cannabis can help alleviate the causes and effects of irregular periods. If the drug gets consumed at a supervised and moderate amount, it can lead to health benefits. It is advised not to overdose marijuana intake though. In case you are wondering how to use Cannabis to treat irregular periods, consult a medical practitioner first. They will best recommend an ideal ingestion method and dose for the treatment.

Why Pregnant Women Should Avoid Drinking Coffee

07th May 2019 Pregnant-WomenShould-Avoid-Drinking-Coffee

When a woman gets pregnant, there would be a lot of do’s and don’ts she must follow in order to ensure the well-being of her baby. Some restrictions can be based on culture, religion or science.

Although these restrictions might not be the best for you, it is better to consult your doctor on what you can and can’t do in order to make sure that you can still enjoy some activities or foods while you are pregnant.

One of the things that you’re definitely not allowed is the intake of coffee during pregnancy. This is based on numerous studies conducted in order to see the effects of coffee on a developing baby.

Prescribed Consumption of Caffeine

Although the topic on how many milligrams of coffee a woman should take during pregnancy is still being debated heavily, and there are conflicting conclusions drawn from various studies, the most prescribed and deemed safe amount to be consumed is 200 mg per day or one 12-ounce cup of coffee.

How Coffee Affects the Baby

Since babies, whether they are newly born or still in the womb, have no ability to metabolize or detoxify the caffeine that gets absorbed by their bodies, they are not yet fully capable of handling the caffeine that is stored in their bloodstream compared to their mothers.

When caffeine gets absorbed by your baby, it can affect his heart development, making the tissues that separate the heart’s chambers thinner. As a result, it will reduce the function of the heart over the whole lifespan of the child.

Studies also point out that ingesting coffee during pregnancy can also cause an increase in heart rate in babies since a baby’s underdeveloped liver can’t filter the caffeine out of his body compared to adults’. Miscarriages and low birth weight can also be among the many effects of drinking coffee while pregnant.

Drinking coffee during pregnancy can also cause you dehydration since it is considered a diuretic and can cause you to frequently visit your bathroom from time to time. Absorbing iron from the food that you consume can also be lesser due to the caffeine that your coffee contains.

Also, since there are no definite conclusions drawn yet from various studies that are being currently conducted, it is better to be safe than risk the life of the child that you are carrying in your womb. The health of your baby during the 9-month period and after birth is more important than temporarily fulfilling a craving.

Conclusion

If consuming coffee is unavoidable, it’d be better if the intake is lessened gradually, since a sudden withdrawal could cause headaches and migraines. A little dose could be enough to reduce headaches. A little tip to also consider is to slowly take in your beverage to prevent the sudden and addictive jolt that caffeine does in your bloodstream whenever you down a whole cup in one go.

Still, it would be best for both you and your baby to avoid drinking coffee during pregnancy.

Is CBD Oil Safe for Breastfeeding Moms?

15th April 2019 CBD-Oil-Safe-for-Breastfeeding-Mom

In recent years, more and more countries have started to consider the legalization of marijuana for medical purposes. Major brands like green the vote ok believe that the marijuana plant offers a wide range of medical benefits that will revolutionize modern-day medicine.

Medical researches have discovered that the marijuana plant or also known as “cannabis sativa” contains an estimated 480 compounds, and more or less 80 of these compounds are classified as “cannabinoids.”

What is CBD?

Cannabidiol or CBD is one of the most popular marijuana compounds which, unlike the other compounds such as Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), is non-psychoactive and non-intoxicating. By extracting the CBD from the marijuana plant, the resulting product is the CBD oil.

What is CBD Oil and its Benefits?

CDB oil is the oil extracted from the cannabis plant. It has been widely acclaimed to offer excellent health benefits such as:

  • Relieve chronic pain
  • Reduce depression and anxiety
  • Reduce symptoms relating to cancer
  • Lowers blood pressure
  • Improve heart-related conditions

With its growing popularity in the medical world, questions are now raised on whether the CBD oil is safe for breastfeeding moms. Is CBD oil really safe to be used by breastfeeding moms? Do the doctors recommend it?

Should a Breastfeeding Mother Consider Using CBD Oil?

Expert opinions are divided as to the whether the CBD oil is really safe and effective to be used by breastfeeding moms.

To those who believe that CBD oil is worth considering, these are their claims:

  • Postpartum Depression (PPD) is a serious mental condition most new moms experience after birth. It is triggered by hormonal and physical changes that a woman undergoes during and after pregnancy. And so, it is believed that CBD oil is effective in reducing postpartum depression.
  • When a breastfeeding mom is suffering from postpartum depression, she will surely be struggling in breastfeeding her child. It could result in harming both herself and her baby. That’s why, it’s been suggested that moms should take CBD oil for it is effective in treating insomnia, severe mood swings, depression, and anxiety – all symptoms of a postpartum disorder.

As much as many believed in the great health benefits that CBD oil gives to breastfeeding moms, there are still those who are critical of its possible risks. Here are some of their concerns:

  • Although CBD oil helps breastfeeding moms battle against PPD, there is insufficient medical research on the particular effects of CBD oil to infants and to the other bodily functions of the mother.
  • Many believed that it can still be potentially risky to breastfeeding moms given the fact that it is extracted from a cannabis plant which can still possibly make anyone “high”.

Although there is still no thorough and conclusive study on the health benefits of CBD oil, it is essential to note that it’s way better than opioids that are highly addictive. And so, with enough research on CBD oil, its safe therapeutic uses will surely be discovered and proven.

What Happens If You Take Illegal Drugs During Pregnancy?

21th March 2019 illegal-drugs-during-pregnancy

Whenever a woman is pregnant, there are things that needed to be monitored so as not to harm the health of the mother and that of the baby. You can check this article too but using illegal drugs while on the period of pregnancy is actually not safe.

There is an existing study that shows that using illegal drugs on the period of pregnancy can eventually lead to low birth weight, placental abruption, miscarriage, premature labour and even both maternal and fetal death.

The succeeding information will help you know about specific drugs and their effects on the expecting mother and the unborn child:

Cocaine

Effects to a pregnant woman’s body: When cocaine is consumed, it crosses the placenta until it enters the circulation of the fetus. It is actually harmful because the elimination of the drug takes much time for the fetus than for an adult. This would mean that the drug will have to stay longer in the body of the fetus than in the body of the pregnant woman.

Effects to the baby: As per the Organization of Teratology Information Services (OTIS), if the cocaine was consumed in the early months of pregnancy, it may increase the risk of having a miscarriage. If it was consumed on the later stage, it can cause placental abruption which will eventually lead to preterm birth, fetal death and severe bleeding.

PCP and LSD

Effects to a pregnant woman’s body: Both these drugs are considered hallucinogens. This means that they can make the users behave violently. If a pregnant woman takes the drug, it may hurt the baby once she inflicts damage to her own body.

Effects to the baby: The use of PCP will result in poor muscle control, withdrawal syndrome, low birth weight and even brain damage if the mother uses it frequently. LSD, on the other hand, will lead to birth defects if it is used on the same frequency as PCD.

Marijuana

Effects to a pregnant woman’s body: Like Cocaine, if Marijuana is consumed, it will immediately cross the placenta towards the fetus. Like cigarette smoke, marijuana has toxins that keep the baby from getting enough supply of oxygen that he or she needs in order to grow properly.

Effects to the baby: Existing studies about the use of marijuana by a pregnant woman is still inconclusive because most women are also using alcohol and tobacco. Nevertheless. smoking marijuana increases both the levels of carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide present in the blood, thus reducing the supply of oxygen towards the baby. Also, like any other drugs, smoking marijuana during pregnancy will increase the chances of low birth weights, delay of the baby’s development, miscarriage, premature births, and behavioral and learning problems once the child grows up.

How Can You Get Help with This Matter?

If you are using drugs while you are still not aware that you are pregnant, then you can get help through various treatment programs, counselling and support groups. Don’t hesitate to ask for help once you realize that you have a problem relating to this matter. You can only be assured about your safety through passing drug tests. After all, it's not only about your health since it may also cause severe problems to your child.

Is it Bad to Lose Weight While You're Pregnant?

20th March 2019 Lose-Weight

Being overweight while pregnant puts you and your baby at potential risk. Having a difficult delivery and needing a cesarean section (C-section) are the possible complications of being overweight, according to a study by the website of National Health Institute. You might want to consider losing some extra pounds during pregnancy, but is weight loss safe during this period? Fortunately, a lot of studies suggested losing some weight throughout pregnancy may be possible and even advantageous to both the mother and the baby. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (ACOG) points out that it’s acceptable to work out during pregnancy given that there won’t be too strenuous, exhausting, and dangerous routines.

Here are a few guidelines to safely lose weight during pregnancy:

Know your healthy weight. During pregnancy, do not forget that you have a growing baby inside you. So, no matter how hard you try, you will gain some extra pound. Your goal here is to determine which weight gain is healthy and which one is not. Ask your doctor on this matter, so you will be properly guided. Know if you are obese, overweight or in normal weight and find out how many pounds you can gain and still stay healthy.

Count your calorie intake.

Decreasing your daily calorie intake is one way to shed that extra weight. The principle of calorie counting relies on burning off more calories than you consume. Prior to cutting down on calories from your diet, observe your body, and take note of your daily intake and find out how many calories you really consume. A licensed dietician can be of help in this plan. Be aware of the food you eat and start looking at labels in each food package. Remember that a 1700 calorie diet per day is the recommended calorie intake for a pregnant woman. Following this will help ensure that the mother and baby will get sufficient nutrients. Eating in smaller portions, filling up your plates with more vegetables and cutting out of soda are just a few of the things you can do to cut down calories.

Have a 30-minute daily exercise.

One misconception during pregnancy is the harmful effect of exercise. This is definitely untrue. If your exercise doesn’t involve strenuous activities, then exercise is a benefit. Spending 30 minutes of your day to exercise can aid in keeping a healthy weight, lessen baby’s birth deficiency, and relieve some of the pregnancy pains you feel. The exercises that are safe during pregnancy include jogging, gardening, prenatal yoga, walking, and swimming. On the other hand, avoid any movements that involve balance such as biking, riding, or any exhausting activities.

Consulting your doctor is vital to avoid further complications and risk.

Weight loss in pregnancy is an intricate issue, so it needs your doctor’s approval and recommendation. Always remember that either you’re overweight or at a healthy weight during pregnancy, eating nutritious foods and exercising are essential for a healthy pregnancy.

Detoxing the Vagina? How?

5th Jan 2019 Detoxing-the-Vagina

Health risks are mostly avoided with proper diet and care—that includes body detoxing. There is a need to prevent your body from unhealthy toxins and aiding it from these outside substances is beneficial. But, what about your vagina? We are going to talk on that below but more info on marijuana detox pills check the link there.

With access to topical “down-there” products, more and more women are susceptible to pain, inflammation of the vulva, and itching that are caused by creams, lubes, hygiene products, or even condoms. Because your vagina has a lot of blood vessels and vulnerable mucous membranes, it absorbs chemicals more than your dermis does. There are a lot of ways for body detoxing, but is it necessary to have your sensitive lady parts for detox? Let’s look at some methods.

Steaming

Vaginal steaming is like a sauna bath for your lady parts. You boil medicinal herbs like wormwood, mugwort, or traditional herbs like lavender, basil, rose petals, or rosemary among others. This is to be done after your period and never during. It is not advisable to do vaginal steaming if you may have a hint that you might be pregnant. This helps by increasing blood flow, dilate your blood vessels, and most especially relax the pelvic muscles.

Here’s how you can do your own vaginal-steam bath at home:

Boil filtered water in a pot then add your selection of herbs. These may be dried or fresh depending on your preference. Remember, dried herbs are more potent than the fresh ones. If you use 1 cup for dried herbs, just triple the amount for the fresh herbs to get the same concentration.

Boil for about 10 minutes then turn off the stove. Leave the water to slightly cool for 5 minutes.

Carefully pour the water into another container.

Find a comfortable chair where you can sit over the container without underwear. Take note that this normally takes 20-30 minutes.

Cover the container by putting a towel or a blanket over it and tie it around your waist-- like a tent.

Enjoy the vaginal steam experience.

Detox Pearls

These are cleansing pearls that you insert into your “vajayjay” like a tampon. It is claimed that it treats yeast infections and marketed to as 100% natural and even therapeutic. Detox pearls claim to cleanse, treat and even tighten your vagina. Leaving the pearls inside your lady parts will make you prone to TSS or toxic shock syndrome. This also happens when you use tampons regularly and it is always recommended to be mindful about how long you are keeping the tampons inside your vagina. Detox pearls, for this matter, is left inside for three days which causes a reaction to your vagina and will not let healthy good bacteria to grow. Most reviews from women who used detox pearls have acquired an infection rather than solve the problem.

Taking care of your vagina is important but your sensitive lady parts are self-sufficient. Your vagina produces lactobacilli which balance the acidity level to protect it from sexually transmitted pathogens and balance the bacteria living in it. Basically, it is not necessary to do these types of

body detoxing at all. To prevent you from feeling any burning sensation or irritation from a yeast infection, it is best to see your ob-gyne periodically for the best preventive care or remedy.

Clothing Guide for a Comfortable Menstrual Period

16th Dec 2018 Clothing Guide for a Comfortable Menstrual Period

According to a New York Times article, it is tough being a woman because of the dangers and challenges they face all their lives. One of these challenges is having to undergo monthly menstruation. Dressing on a period is one of women's dilemmas as they don't want to commit a mistake by putting on something that will sacrifice fashion. When it is that time of the month, it is a must to choose outfits that offer comfortability without neglecting your fashion sense. Below is a clothing guide for a comfy, relaxing menstrual period.

Hoodies or Sweatshirts

There are bad days, but there are SUPER bad days. With menstrual cramps and hormonal things going on that is making your day miserable, it’s never a bad idea to wear custom hoodies. If you don’t want to move, just want to stay home and sip a hot cup of tea while watching a fine movie on Netflix, a hoodie or a sweatshirt has your comfort totally in mind. Hoodies are available around the corner, but if you want to add your personal taste, you can decide to wear custom hoodies instead.

Jeans

Being anxious on your period is normal, but don’t let it rule your day. Avoid wearing white and light colored pants as it is obvious if blood seeps through your pants. Opt for darker jeans, so if a mishap happens, stains won't be that noticeable. Also, stay away from very tight jeans that is difficult to put on and off.

Long Shirts

If light-colored jeans are really your thing, you can opt to wear long shirts that wrap your crotch. This will allow you to hide stains whenever you get one. In addition, long or oversized shirts are comfortable to wear, so you won't feel irritated during the day.

Leggings

Leggings have been part of women's wardrobe. You absolutely need a pair of leggings, most especially a black legging, during your period for they are versatile and cozy. Also, you won't find it tricky to pair with other pieces of clothing. A professional-looking blouse and shirt are easier to pair with leggings. In addition, if wearing a skirt is a must for you, you can opt to wear leggings underneath your skirt. You can still wear something fashionable even during that time of the month.

T-Shirt Dress

A loose hanging dress will give you the comfort you deserve. It is never a bad idea to wear a dress on your period especially if your timetable requires you to attend formal, professional events. Compared to other types of dress, a t-shirt dress is not tightening and still looks pleasant. During cold days, you can wear it over tights or put in a cardigan for added comfort and style.

These clothing ideas are here to save your day so that you won’t split your closet open. But don’t forget that being confident in what you wear will make you feel comfortable. Always remember that whenever it is that time of the month, do not let the excruciating pain let your poise down.

Chiropractic Techniques That Help Relieve Period Cramps

26th Nov 2018 Chiropractic Techniques That Help Relieve Period Cramps

Women are amazing. Without them, we would not exist for long. However, their lives are often coupled with pain, fatigue and mood swings when it is “that time of the month.” The level of pain and suffering varies in women regardless of their lifestyle, physical exercise or diet. While some feel normal, others get painful periods during menstruation to the point that they cannot withstand it.

Menstrual cramps, also known as dysmenorrhea, have seen many women turn to over-the-counter medication to cope up with the pain. Others opt for birth control prescriptions that help relieve such painful experience. Like any other prescriptions, such medicine could lead to side effects. The good news is that you can say goodbye to menstrual pains without using any drugs. How, you ask? Here is a look at chiropractic techniques used by Back and Body NYC that help relieve period cramps.

Chiropractic techniques have been, for long, used to alleviate lower back pain. What you may not know is that a visit to the chiropractors could ease, if not eliminate, the pain during menstruation. The most common chiropractic techniques practiced include:

Drop Table Technique

Being one of the newest chiropractic techniques, the drop table technique, also known as the Thompson technique, has not been widely used among chiropractors yet. In this approach, chiropractors use a special chiropractic table with lift and drop sections. The sections are lifted and dropped when a thrust is applied.

The technique uses a combination of gravity from the drop and manual adjustments. The drop table technique, unlike the other chiropractic techniques that involve twisting positions, provides lighter adjustment to your lumbosacral area.

Spinal Alignment

Spinal alignment is one of the most common and effective chiropractic techniques. The best part is that it comes in handy not only during menstruation but also while dealing with menopause. The ideal time for visiting your chiropractor for a spinal alignment is the day before the menstruation begins and on the first day.

Vertebral Subluxation

Did you know that your sexual organs need nerves? Well, if your vertebrae are misaligned, communication with the nervous system is affected, and you will have insufficient nerves resulting in increased menstrual cramps. Owing to its efficiency, vertebral subluxation is the most used chiropractic technique.

The menstrual cycle involves a never-ending series of cravings, mood swings, and menstrual cramps. However, with the help of a chiropractor, you can manage the suffering using a technique that best suits you.

The frequency of visiting your chiropractor depends on how you are responding to the treatment as well as on your personal preference. Even without the menstrual pains, you can still make an appointment with your chiropractor as the techniques come in handy in other instances such as when you are injured.

A visit to the chiropractor may not be the first thing that pops in your mind when you are in pain. The thought is especially driven out by the fear of pain on the chiropractor's table. However, given the ease and efficiency of chiropractic techniques and the fact that there are no side effects, you should make it your go-to approach. It is a holistic approach that will alleviate the pain and leave you fresh all throughout.

The Role of Oral Health in a Woman’s Fertility

17th Nov 2018 Role of Oral Health in a Woman’s Fertility

Planning to have a child is an exciting time for both couples as having a baby is surely one of the greatest achievements a couple could have. Sadly, not every couple experiences this. For some, they end up wondering why they can’t have a child and trying different methods but failing every time.

While there are multiple factors why this happens, recent studies have shown that your oral health and fertility are linked to your chances of pregnancy, and according to research, having a good dental hygiene can increase your chances of having a successful one. Previously, no one knows they are correlated and people overlooked this fact.

That’s why today, with pieces of evidence pointing that this claim is true, there is no harm in maintaining a good oral hygiene, right? It is not only beneficial for couples who are expecting a child but also crucial in preventing gum diseases. With this in mind, the following dental issues are some of the factors that can affect your chances of having a baby:

Gum Disease

When the gum and tissues are infected and inflamed, this causes the immune system to start a chain reaction that can lead to miscarriage and premature birth.

Gingivitis and Periodontal Disease

When tartar and plaque accumulate, this will lead to gingivitis – a milder form of gum disease that causes the inflammation of the gums.

If left untreated, gingivitis can progress and will lead to periodontitis or Periodontal Disease, which can lead to chronic inflammation around the teeth, gums, and jawbone. If it becomes severe, this can lead to a miscarriage, premature birth, low birth weight, or low fertility rate.

Dental Caries

Having poor oral hygiene can also cause tooth decay or cavities. It is caused by a specific type of bacteria that produce acid and destroy the tooth enamel. This type of bacteria can also travel to the uterus as transient bacteria which can lead to uterine contractions and preterm labor. To remove that type of decay or cavities, it is better to have teeth implants abroad on time.

Oral Health in Male Fertility

Studies have also shown that oral health is also connected to men’s fertility.  Research has shown that men with poor oral hygiene have a low sperm count, poor sperm motility, abnormal sperm shape, and bacterial infection in the semen that are associated with different oral health problems.

Mouthwash Overuse

While mouthwash is a good way of maintaining your mouth clean, overusing it can greatly affect your fertility since most mouthwash is alcohol-based. Maintaining moderate mouthwash usage is the key to having a higher chance of fertility.

Tips to Consider

Regular Brushing

Regular brushing is essential to maintain a good oral health. It will keep your mouth healthy and clean, which reduces your risk of getting gum diseases.

Flossing

Flossing your teeth is equally important. Some parts of your teeth can’t be reached just by brushing alone, so a dental floss would surely keep those bacteria away.

Dental Check-Ups

Taking regular dental checkups is advisable if you want to maintain a good oral health. It is recommended that you take a biyearly dental checkup with your dentist to ensure that your fertility is not at stake.

Now that you are aware of the correlation between oral health and fertility, it’s important that you and your partner religiously care for your oral hygiene.

Can Cannabis Relieve Period Cramps?

12th Nov 2018 Cannabis Relieve Period Cramps

Medical cannabis has gained traction, popularity and support in recent years for being a much healthier alternative to conventional painkillers. Numerous accounts of patients praising its ability to relieve pain effectively without subjecting the user to exposure to addiction and side effects have been released in recent years, fanning the flames of people increasing interest in the use of CBD oil as a pain releiver oil.

One particular area of interest is the use of weed in relieving period pains. Recently, more and more people are looking into the answer to the question: does cannabis have an effect on period cramps? Can marijuana relieve women of pains felt during menstruation?

The scientific curiosity attached to this inquiry stems from history as it was discovered that in the 1890's, a physician by the name of Joshua Reynolds actually prescribed then-Queen of England, Queen Victoria, with cannabis to relieve her cramps. Despite the long-standing existence of cannabis in the practice of medicine and pain relief, only little documentation and evidence has been provided for its use and effects in contemporary medical records.

However, more and more bodies of government have begun to look into the use of marijuana as a treatment for period cramps. One good example is the instance in New Jersey, USA where the state has begun to seriously consider approving menstrual cramps as a condition under which medical marijuana can be legally prescribed and used.

Efforts to spread the word about cannabis use in the treatment of period cramps among women have been spearheaded by products produced and distributed by well-known personality Whoopi Goldberg and Maya Elisabeth. Aiming to cater to a completely female audience, the comedian and actor, alongside the known maker and producer of edibles, Maya Elisabeth, under the brand "Whoopi & Maya", introduced their line of medical marijuana products to the market. This healthcare line includes cannabis-induced products such as edibles and salves, all aimed towards helping women through period pain and menstrual cramps.

In an interview with the press, Whoopi Goldberg spoke about the lack of attention received by this niche (women experiencing period pain) which is made up of half the population.

Lack of attention, research and production concerning the use of medical marijuana for the reduction and alleviation of period pain has been attributed to an imbalance and perhaps even an inaccuracy in the conducted surveys. Typically, surveys made to assess marijuana usage among the population display a bias towards men – stating that more men use marijuana products and that women are not as interested or invested in using cannabis products as their male counterparts. These misconceptions have led companies and product producers to steer clear of a market that they believe to be unprofitable. However, more and more stories and articles are coming out, supporting the opposite ideas of these findings. Public awareness is on the rise, and with it, more knowledge will spark among people. Hopefully, the availability of medical cannabis to help women alleviate period pain will eventually increase.

How Can CBD Oil Help Cure Endometriosis?

8th Nov 2018 CBD-Oil-Help-Cure-Endometriosis

CBD or Cannabidiol is a substance found in Cannabis and is proven to have a lot of benefits in treating numerous medical conditions. CBD oil, a mixture of Cannabinoid and carrier oil, is used in treating various medical problems such as managing chronic pain, cognitive disorders, seizures, and chronic inflammation.

CBD oil is excellent in reducing and relieving the intensity of pain because of its numbing effect. People experience different levels of pain and depending on what level of pain you are experiencing, CBD may help to completely get rid of the pain. If you plan to test it to cure your Endometriosis, buying wholesale cbd oil will save you some bucks.

As mentioned earlier, CBD oil aids in the treatment of chronic inflammation which includes endometriosis, a common health condition that affects about 10% of women around the world. Many women are affected by this disease, but there are only little facts known about endometriosis and how it can be treated.

Endometriosis is a painful condition where the endometrial tissue lines the uterus mistakenly and grows outside the uterus. These endometrial tissues can develop in the fallopian tubes, ovaries, and other parts of the abdomen. Endometrial tissues also respond to the hormones that circulate in the body like the way it responds to the uterus every month as the uterus builds up, breaks down, and then sheds lining. Endometriosis causes the tissue and blood shed to be trapped in the body which leads to excruciating pain and triggering inflammation.

Women around the world who are suffering from endometriosis, menstrual cramps, and similar conditions use CBD Oil and hemp extract in treating these conditions. Surprisingly, this method of using Cannabis for treatment has already been used for over a millennium.

According to recent studies, the use of CBD oil can aid in hormonal imbalances. Scientists are also positive that CBD oil helps in the functioning of the reproductive system of females.

The following explains how CBD aids in treating Endometriosis:

CBD Stops Cell Multiplication

The body has a means to prevent the growth of abnormal cells and destroys them. However, people with endometriosis are impaired with this function. With CBD oil, the cannabinoid receptors are activated, destroying the abnormal cells and preventing them from multiplying.

CBD Helps Prevent Cell Migration

CBD can stop tissues from migrating outside the uterus by blocking the activation of the receptors of the migrating cells.

CBD Relieves Painful Nerves

Endocannabinoids regulate the nerve growth and molecules like cannabinoids interfere with the supply of nerves to body organs by preventing the activation of their receptor that results in the numbing of the nerves.

The use of CBD is like using an Advil but without side effects. Taking CBD oil is like an alternative to a pain killer. The only difference is that it has no side effects.

CBD Calms an Overly Active Immune System

A large number of the body’s endocannabinoid receptors is located in the macrophages (immune system’s killer cells). When these receptors are activated, they stop the macrophages from releasing cytokines (inflammatory proteins).

People who have endometriosis are hypersensitive to inflammatory toxins, but with the help of CBD molecules, CB2 receptors activate, releasing large anti-inflammatory properties.

Having an alternative treatment that heals more than one condition with little to no side effect is actually a great help. CBD dosages benefit many women affected by endometriosis and other conditions. Nevertheless, always remember that before you make any changes in your treatment, be sure to consult your physician.

Just a few months ago, the United States’ Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the use of a cannabidiol (CBD) products for the treatment of epilepsy.

What is Cannabidiol (CBD)?

According to Joy Organics wholesale CBD oil, Cannabidiol (CBD) is just one of the many substances that can be found in marijuana. However, compared to other substances, CBD does not make a person high. A number of researches has also suggested that CBD can provide other health benefits such as treating depression, anxiety, and some menopausal problems.

Does CBD Oil Relieve Menopause Problems?

A CBD oil-based product has been formulated to treat a variety of ailments to an individual including different types of menopausal problems. How does CBD oil relieve menopause problems? Let’s find out below.

How Does CBD Oil Relieve Menopause Problems?

CBD oil can help control mood swings.

The constant mood swings of a woman during her menopausal stage can be irritating to others. The reason for these mood changes is the lower estrogen level during menopause that makes the brain overactive. The use of CBD oil can reduce the overactivity of the brain, reducing a woman’s mood swings.

CBD oil promotes good sleep.

Entering the menopausal stage, it is normal for a woman to have difficulties in falling asleep. However, a 2016 case study showed that CBD oil can be helpful in treating sleep disturbances that are associated with menopause. A person can take the CBD oil earlier in the day to acquire a good and restful sleep.

CBD oil can help in controlling weight.

When you hit the menopausal stage, it is much more difficult to lose weight. Hormonal changes and inactive lifestyle can lead to weight gain and can even cause health problems. CBD can help in trimming the person’s body fat and can regulate a person’s overeating habit.

CBD oil can ease bone loss problems.

With lower estrogen level, the bone’s strength and density are affected during the menopausal stage. However, some research indicated that CBD interacts with a cannabinoid receptor that plays an important role in bone density loss. Thus, CBD has the ability to reduce the rate of bone density loss to a woman in her menopausal stage.

CBD oil can help treat menopause pain.

It is normal for a woman in a menopausal stage to have pain all over the body. With the bone density loss, lack of sleep, and anxiety, the pain will be felt regularly. But with the use of CBD oil, it elevates the endocannabinoid anadamide, reducing the sensitivity of the pain throughout the body.

As time goes by, researchers will discover more and more health benefits from CBD and other substances that are derived from marijuana. CBD oil, for instance, is already of great help to people dealing with their menopausal problems. Just remember the legality that goes with taking these kinds of medicines.

Benefits of Taking Probiotics

21st Sep 2018 Probiotics Source: Gasett

What does a probiotic do for you? Probiotics are live microorganisms that can be consumed through fermented foods or supplements. In addition, they are often called "good" or "helpful" bacteria because they maintain a healthy gut. You can get probiotics from food supplements and some foods like yogurt. Studies have shown that the balance or unevenness of microorganisms in your digestive system is related to overall health. Probiotics encourage a healthy equilibrium of gut microorganisms and have been connected to a lot of benefits to the body.

Balance the Good Bacteria

Taking probiotics can help your digestive system balance. When you take antibiotics, probiotics will restore the good bacteria that you lose in your body.  When taken in adequate quantity, these live microorganisms can help repair gut health.

Prevents and Treats Diarrhea

One of the best probiotic therapeutic benefits is the treatment of diarrhea. A microorganism such as a lactobacillus has been proven over the years to cure diarrhea in children and adults. Since diarrhea is sometimes a side effect of taking antibiotics, then some people would suffer from it. Recent studies show that probiotics may prevent antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) via restoration of the gut microflora. Also, probiotics can also help treat diarrhea that is not related to antibiotic use.

Aids in Weight Loss

Probiotics can help break down fiber that the body cannot absorb turning it into a beneficial fatty acid. Certain studies show that normal-weight people have different stomach bacteria than overweight or obese human beings. Therefore, probiotics probably play an important part in weight regulation. The other way that probiotics can aid weight loss is by preventing the intake of dietary fat in the intestines. Excreting the fat into the body wastes rather than storing it in the body is a good way to lose weight.

Boosts your Immune System

A study conducted in 2011 shows that probiotics may limit epithelial damage induced by enteroinvasive pathogens, and promote restoration. In addition, some probiotics have been shown to help with the creation of antibodies. There are also studies that mention probiotics decreases the possibility of respiratory diseases. Probiotics such as Lactobacillus Crispatus can also lessen the risk of urinary tract infections (UTI) most especially in women.

Decreases the Risk of  Skin Allergies

Though more research is needed, there are certain cases that link probiotics to reduced severity of eczema. One research shows that infants fed with probiotic-supplemented milk have improved their eczema condition than those who did not. Also, a study conducted shows that women who took probiotics during their pregnancy have a lower risk of having children with skin allergies and eczema. Therefore, these live microorganisms may lessen inflammatory diseases.

The benefits of taking probiotics vary from one person to one another. Thus, this is one reason why you should include probiotic supplements and foods in your diet. Many studies show that probiotics may balance the good bacteria, prevent and treat diarrhea, help in losing weight, enhance your immunity, and reduce skin allergies. You may contact your doctor to learn more about probiotics.
